Hicuity Health, the nation’s leading provider of high-acuity telemedicine services, delivers virtual nursing services that address ongoing hospital clinical staffing challenges. Recently, Central Maine Healthcare (CMH) partnered with Hicuity Health to implement a virtual nursing solution across the CMH hospital system. The innovative program supports the CMH bedside nursing team by engaging Hicuity nurses virtually to handle time-intensive nursing responsibilities that do not require hands-on interaction with the patient, allowing the onsite care team to focus on direct patient care.
Virtual nursing has become an important staffing solution for hospitals nationwide, mitigating ongoing nurse staffing challenges by engaging nurses located across the country through the use of two-way audio-visual communication to handle nursing tasks such as admission assessment, patient education, medication reconciliation, and discharge. Central Maine Healthcare’s new virtual nursing partnership with Hicuity Health addresses statewide staffing shortages and creates additional capacity for bedside nurses to deliver direct patient care, leading to higher patient and nurse satisfaction as well as reductions in nurse turnover.
“We are excited to work with Hicuity Health to launch our virtual nursing program and support the excellent care we provide to our patients,” said Kris Chaisson, Chief Nursing Officer, Central Maine Healthcare. “Utilizing experienced nurses in a virtual care role delivers a stable and cost-effective staffing option. We are confident that this program will provide consistent support to our bedside team and enhance the work we do every day.”
“Hicuity Health is pleased to partner on patient care with Central Maine Healthcare, supporting their bedside nursing team with our Virtual Nursing services,” said Marcia Murphy, Vice President of Clinical Operations and Nursing, Hicuity Health. “We look forward to a close collaboration between the onsite team and our experienced virtual nurses.”
