CMO Dr. Rachel Sackrowitz Recognizes ICU Physicians and Critical Care Awareness Month in Becker’s

Critical Care Awareness MonthIn recognition of Critical Care Awareness Month, Advanced ICU Care’s CMO Dr. Rachel Sackrowitz  celebrates the physicians who provide care in Intensive Care Units (ICUs) in an article written for Becker’s Hospital Review. She highlights that despite the diversity in their individual paths, practice setting, and clinical and personal experiences, a common set of challenges and goals unites the physicians in shared experience and purpose.

Dr. Sackrowitz illustrates the personal, professional, and situational differences experienced in four typical critical care situations: the hospitalist in a rural facility, the intensivist practicing in an busy urban hospital, the CMO over a mid-size hospital system, and the tele-ICU intensivist providing care from afar. Even while recognizing the unique situational differences, Dr. Sackrowitz highlights how individual physicians are unified by the need to address healthcare at its most challenging. The call of these physicians is universal – to provide the best possible care when the stakes are highest, the patients are at their most vulnerable, and the pace is most hectic.

As Critical Care Awareness Month draws to a close as May ends, Sackrowitz accentuates the joys and the challenges of the work that she and her fellow intensivists share and honors those who commit to the highest level of critical care.
