For the second time in two months, tele-ICU services from Advanced ICU Care have garnered the attention of state governments expressing support of telemedicine.
On July 12, Illinois Lieutenant Governor Evelyn Sanguinetti visited Sarah Bush Lincoln Health Center in Mattoon, IL to observe tele-ICU care in action. She took the opportunity to initiate a demonstration of the tele-ICU service, speaking with Advanced ICU Care intensivist Jesse Chang using the telemedicine setup. In remarks afterward, Sanguinetti expressed support for legislation to advance the use of telemedicine, including reimbursement by Medicaid.
Two months earlier, the South Carolina legislature enacted house resolution H.4299 recognizing Advanced ICU Care’s recognition of partner Palmetto Health Tuomey Hospital with a 2017 I SEE YOU CARE Award. Among other aspects of tele-ICU care, the resolution cited that the hospital’s ability to work “hand in hand with AICU Care’s critical care teams have enabled them to better care for their most acute, critically ill patients” and to allow very sick patients to remain close to home.
