Tele-ICU acceptance as standard of care drives growth of clinical team
Advanced ICU Care, the nation’s leading provider of high-acuity telehealth services, announced a significant expansion of its existing tele-ICU care center in New York City. Initially established in 2012, the center houses intensivists (physicians who specialize in critical care), advanced practice providers, and nurses who provide technology-enabled critical care services via telemedicine to patients in hospitals across the country. Advanced ICU Care now has nearly 150 clinical staff supporting almost 1,000 beds under contract for care at hospitals across 24 states, with locations ranging from community-based to tertiary care facilities.
As one of its eight locations, Advanced ICU Care’s midtown Manhattan tele-ICU care center represents a critical element of the company’s multi-center strategy. Rather than consolidate operations in a single remote location and rely only on the local healthcare recruiting opportunities, Advanced ICU Care locates tele-ICU care centers strategically to cross time zones and utilize local critical care expertise.
“Expansion necessitated by client growth is one of the highest compliments an organization can be paid,” said Lou Silverman, Chairman and CEO of Advanced ICU Care. “Our New York clinical team is comprised of a great and growing number of highly talented individuals who exemplify Advanced ICU Care’s collective commitment to outstanding patient care.”
